Description

This shim is specifically designed to lockout the EBS helix function on the P90X primary clutch that comes factory on the 2018+ Gen 2 new body style Ranger 1000 models. I have discovered the EBS (engine braking system) can be too aggressive for many people and is causing premature belt failure when going down very steep hills so I came up with a solution. By installing this shim you will eliminate the side loading function of the EBS roller. This saves a lot for wear on your belt and lessens the EBS effect so your machine will coast more when decelerating below 10mph. It does not totally disable the EBS but it lessens the effectiveness of it by 65%. It also eliminates EBS belt wear and smoking the belt when decelerating down a steep hill. If you have noticed smoke that smells like burnt rubber when you go down a steep hill or your belt is tremendously worn on the inside edge then this shim is a must for you.

    Was hard on belts once I put this on it stopped glazing the side of belt so bad

    No go for a 2023 XP 1000

    My 2023 Ranger XP 1000 primary clutch is not equipped with the helix. It has a bearing, a shim and a spacer. No spring, no helix. Perhaps an upgrade for the 2023 and newer models. Gave it five stars because everyone that has installed one of these loves them and I can’t prove them wrong. This is my first Polaris, so I obviously have no idea the real reason to adding this part and I don’t guess I have the issue that this part is intended to fix. I just figured I’d add it because I’d have it apart to add the clutch kit. Now I have a solution in search of a problem. ?

    The shim is fine but not for 2023 Ranger because it doesn't use an EBS pri. clutch. The 2023 ranger clutch also uses a two way bearing. So don't buy those two items for a 2023 model. Gilomen should update their description of those two items. Also i tried to contact them about this matter for 3 days and got no phone call answers or replies from my voice mails.

    Perfect solution that solved my issues. I was getting misfire codes and de-ration of power while driving. Got this spacer, installed, have not had an issues since. Ranger even seems smoother. You guys are awesome. I have gotten other parts off this site and you always have a great solution for problems. Thank you!

    Video said primary clutch can be pulled off by hand , I pulled on it for hours finely used puller . That should be addressed in the video
